From parties to pressure: The college cost of FOMO
For this package, I wanted to explore the growing issue of FOMO — the fear of missing out — and how it affects college students both socially and mentally. I spoke with Britani Black, a licensed psychologist and recent Marshall graduate, to better understand how constant comparison, social media pressure, and the fast-paced college environment contribute to feelings of anxiety and isolation. Black explained the psychological impact FOMO can have and offered insight into why so many students struggle with it. Through interviews and student perspectives, this package looks at how FOMO shapes daily life on campus and what students can do to manage those feelings in a healthier way
